[adsense:]Ok! now we need to consider that "We are never too old to learn".
Well this is never going to happen to you so you don't even need to read past this point.
Or??
Over a period of time I have been blissfully unaware that I was the victim of some sort of website problem or attack. What caused the problem or how is still not known to me. But I do now know the consequences. Most if not all of my websites had become virtually invisible to all but me on-line.
Yes. It appears that I am almost the only person in the whole world who was able to view and visit my websites. Very occasionally I found that I was unable to access a single website. But after trying several times I usually gained access. The website was there so I just dismissed it as some sort of glitch with my computer, or internet service provider glitch.
For more then the last 12 Months I have had a wireless internet connection. My first service provider provided a service worse than any dial up connection at something less than 56k. The service was intermittent and I often was disconnected in the middle of a download. I changed service provider and my service improved considerably. I was already on my trip around Australia at that time. As you might imagine by now I have been conditioned to expecting breaks in service and periods where I was unable to access my websites immediately.
Some weeks ago Qondio reported that it's site robot could not access my site. I began checking to see if my site was available. It was. I checked for a couple of days and then started to think that the problem was that my web server provider was locking the robot out. I contacted my web server provider and queried them about the access to my site. They advised me that there was nothing to prevent access to my sites. Qondio continued to report that it was unable to access my website. I continued to try and sort the problem out with my web service provider. They were adamant that there was nothing wrong with my website access. Anyone from around the world could access my websites.
Several times I Used the settings in Qondio and re-registered my site www.RegWhelan.info. Each time the site was accepted. The robot obviously was able to access my site and find the registration number on the site. Unfortunately the next day Qondio would report that it was unable to access the website. As usual I verified that I could access my site. I was becoming more and more confused. Yesterday I was contacted by another Qondio user to say that he was unable to follow the link I set-up in a signature file. Again I verified that I was able to follow the link to my site. Now here is the crunch. The last time I had contacted my web server provider, they had provided a link to a web service I could use to verify that my site was visible around the world.
I retrieved the link and found that there were indeed problems accessing my sites. I contacted my web server provider again but now I was armed with the results of my checking with http://alertra.com 's site verification service. They did extensive testing and refreshing my websites and after nearly 24 hours they determined that the domain name registration service had not set-up my private domain name server links correctly. Now this is even more weird. They gave me full instructions to go to my domain registration service and correct the problem. As soon as I accessed the registration service provider's website I realized that I had set up my private domain name information correctly.
I contacted my web server provider again and gave them access to my domain name registration account. They deleted the information and re-entered it. Hey the problem was fixed. Guess what. My server provider told me that they were unable to explain how it was that I have been able to access my websites at all. According to them I should not have been able to access my websites. I should have been in the same position as everyone else and not been able to access my sites.
I have to apologize to anyone who has been unable to access my websites. I am assured that access should now be available or will be available during the next 12 hours. The website checking service I have referred to above may not be the only service provider and I am not connected with them in any way. I hope that some of my readers might gain from reading this information.
