G'Day,
Reg here,
When Merilyn and I made our trip from Adelaide to Townsville we had intended to travel around the eastern coast line.
Circumstances changed and we had to come north via the most direct root from Melbourne. One day when we were South of Rockhampton we managed to find some usable shade on the side of the road and pulled in for a cupper.
I heard a train coming by and grabbed my camera and took some pictures. While we waited for the jug to boil there was another train and then another.
I got pictures of Trains with Queensland Railways locos and with Queensland National Railways locos.
Some trains had different combinations of locos at the front and in the middle. And all the trains were hauling consists of coal wagons to and from a coal mining area. Some were Overhead Electric trains while others were diesel electric.
Maybe we had stopped at a convenient time for a train spotter or just maybe rail traffic on this railway line was this busy all the time.
Any way the trains sure made that roadside stop more enjoyable than usual.
Unfortunately I can't tell you the loco types. Maybe One day I will get around to finding out and let you know.
best wishes as always,
Reg Whelan
